| Life for most of us is a melting pot of pleasure and struggles, restlessness and contentment, laughter and sadness, chaos and routine, wonder and boredom . . . you know what they say “Life is full of ups and downs”. With each new day comes a different challenge, another demand, a problem or two, something else to talk or argue about, to ponder over or to laugh at. Through it all I find that music has that ingredient to lift me when I’m struggling or give me that little extra spice for the good times. I don’t know what’s on your plate as you listen to Songs from the Book of Life . . but I hope you enjoy them whatever mood or circumstance they find you in and that the music and words can enhance your journey . . even a little.
I need to say thanks to my friend Jesus (who enriches my life more than any music could ever do) for the inspiration you give me in writing songs, and for the musicians you have put along my pathway who bring these songs to life. You never promised me a bed of roses - you said to take up my cross and follow you . . you also said that your burden is light . . which may seem like a contradiction! Playing with the band and writing songs have been the lighter side of my existence, but I believe these songs are born out of the everyday chaos both within me and what I see around me.
What would life be without music? Like strawberries without cream, like a world without children, like a garden without flowers, like a God without grace, like a heaven without Jesus. Unthinkable!!! Let there be music.
