About Me
I was brought up in a Christian home which is a great blessing, but I didn’t always see it that way when I was younger. My father is a Baptist Preacher and my mother is a community support worker. I have a younger brother called Andrew. Being the son of a preacher man, we moved around quite a lot. I resented it at the time because it was hard to settle and always seemed that just when I felt comfortable we then had to move again as God called my father to do His work. I regularly but mechanically attended church from when I was old enough to sit in a church pew. I made a profession of faith at the age of 8 mostly through the fear of being separated from my loved ones when I died. I was baptized at the age of 14. After a move to Belfast at the age of 16 I turned into a bit of a James Dean except I was a rebel without a clue. I didn’t like being made go to church services and was tired of the stigma attached to being a Pastor’s son so I started to take refuge in rock music. As you can see from my musical influences above, not one (Apart from Johnny Cash) is Christian. I hadn’t an ounce of music in me but one day I started beating pots and pans with drum sticks out of sheer frustration. That was the start of the drumming! The bass guitar followed a few years later. It was not until I experienced a few defining moments in life that God really started to speak to me and work in me. I was in my early 20’s when I started to grasp the meaning of God’s grace and forgiveness and what it actually felt like. I started to get involved with a youth discipleship organisation called Exodus; www.exodusonline.org.uk and this along with the sound preaching of God’s word helped to push me out of my comfort zone and equip me to be a committed follower of Jesus Christ. It helped me gain the confidence I needed to unashamedly express and share my faith with others. I’ve played in various bands over the last 10 years and am humbled at the privilege of being able to use my limited ability to help spread the good news through the powerful medium of music. I’ve seen the most hardened of hearts (mine included) soften and reduced to tears of joy through God speaking in music. So, as you can see, it hasn’t been pretty and I’m still far from perfect, but by God’s grace I am where I am today. What He can do for me He can do for you too.
“Brothers, listen! We are here to proclaim that through this man
Jesus there is forgiveness for your sins.”
Acts 13:38
"For the sin of this one man, Adam, caused death to rule over many. But even greater is God’s wonderful grace and his gift of righteousness, for all who receive it will live in triumph over sin and death through this one man, Jesus Christ."
Romans 5:17
May the Lord of peace himself give you peace always by all means. The Lord be with you all.
